For those in the digital brand management industry, no matter the practice you specialize in (we all are a part of developing the UX goals), this UX Myths list is for us. It will at least have you smiling about a past project, or thinking of the way it used to be, and glad you know better.

Educating Expected

I really shouldn’t be surprised by how often these myths are part of each project or even industry group discussions, but the fact remains this resource will be in my back pocket for a bit longer. Each myth is well documented with additional reading links that are fodder for educating the client. Best for that client who hasn’t had this conversation since the last time they refreshed, 5 to 10 years ago.

When myth #3 is part of an initial stake holder meeting, I learn quickly the path of education will include additional duties and perhaps some pushback on our initial concepts. And yes, people do scroll.

XtraFinder, Thank You

I’m not the only one that probably lived with this Mac Finder bug way too long. I’m talking about having a Finder window open in List view and all you see is the Name column but you know there is are more columns to see. Since Mac hides all the scrollbars too, it takes a fraction to figure out what to do next.

That fraction of a moment adds up though when you work on a computer all day.

Easily installed XtraFinder, clicked a few checkboxes. Sanity restored. At least when I’m in a finder window.

Download XtraFinder here, for plenty more reasons than my one need.

Arcane Arts

Arcane Arts – Personal Artist’s Portfolio

Adrienne is a friend of mine and I used her needs as my guidelines for making a simple WordPress portfolio site. She is an artist that is actively traveling the Art and Crafts circuit. This site is a crucial part of her networking with artists and buyers alike. It is gradually growing as Adrienne and I have time to address her additional business needs. Some of those have been:

- Move her original Typepad blog to a free WordPress self hosted version
- Keep the same blog layout and design additional pages for galleries of artwork
- Create an original template and in a minimal style
- Simple ways to update the front page slideshow
- Solutions for selling artwork directly on web site
- Calendar of events
- Guide and teach Adrienne on the new system and ways to update copy and media

Eventually, there’s a plan to make this project into a free theme to download

    Less Friends . com

Do the people you follow on Twitter, follow you? Find out.

Nifty and accurate, it’s all the rave!  Check the “level of friendship” for each of your “people”.

Personally I was surprised to find out who is still following me after excessively tweeting. If you use Twitter a bit more professionally though, I would suppose this is a great tool to keep your active network up to date.

    Computer Friends – Sniper Twins

I once worked in an office that was as rad as this video. Surprised though, I didn’t see mention of the all too familiar NYC computer store in the credits.
